So we’re not there yet? With less than a month to go before the Royal Rumble, the card is starting to come together. It’s a special show with several names being taken up by the show’s namesake matches, meaning that the card has a lot of spots to fill in. That can create some issues, but title matches can help fill them in. However, one of those matches might not be taking place.
Over the last few weeks, one of the bigger feuds on SmackDown has been between the SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Lacey Evans. Bayley has spent the last few weeks insulting Evans’ daughter, which has not set well with Evans. In theory this should set up an obvious title match at the Royal Rumble, but that might not be the case so easily this time.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the match between Evans and Bayley might not be taking place at the Royal Rumble after all. The original plan was to have the match take place at Tables, Ladders And Chairs but the match was moved back for the sake of allowing it more time to be built up. However, the match is not considered necessary for the Royal Rumble so it may not be taking place.
They’ve fought before. Check out one of their previous matches:
Opinion: I can see this making sense. There are only going to be about five matches on the card and two of them are going to be the Rumbles themselves. Couple that with something like Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles and the two World Title matches and the card is set. Evans vs. Bayley can be a big match on an episode of SmackDown and that’s fine given the level the SmackDown women’s division has fallen to.
How do you see this match going? Who should take the title from Bayley? Let us know in the comments below.
