The Fiend wasn’t done yet. There is a lot to look forward to in the new year for WWE. I know the company might not be at its strongest at the moment but they have a lot of time to come in 2020. That means things need to get started in the right way and their first big moment is going to be taking place at the Royal Rumble. That’s a big star, so getting in some practice would make a lot of sense.

One of the biggest matches at the Royal Rumble, save for the show’s namesake matches of course, will be the WWE Championship match between the Fiend and challenger Daniel Bryan. The two of them faced off for the Fiend’s title at Survivor Series, but Bryan wasn’t quite back to full strength for the match. That has changed coming into the rematch and Bryan got a taste of the Fiend on Friday night.

After this week’s SmackDown went off the air, the Fiend appeared and attacked Bryan, who was still in the ring after the show’s main event. The Fiend took Bryan out with the Mandible Claw before running back up the ramp. There was no official match and the bell never rang. Bryan won the show’s main event over King Corbin and The Miz, earning the rematch against the Fiend at the Royal Rumble.

He doesn’t work by the hour. Check out Fiend’s attack on Bryan:

Opinion: I’m not sure how great of a chance Bryan has against the Fiend but if anyone can make you believe that the magic is going to take place, it’s him. That should be a heck of a match and with the right circumstances, Bryan can take the Fiend to a new level. Something like this doesn’t hurt anything either though and it’s good to let them get used to working with each other, even in a short form like this.
