That’s something special. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, someone has to step up and become one of the more prominent voices backstage. This can be done in a variety of ways but one of the most effective ways to lead is by example. WWE has a few names who have done this, and now another star has stepped into the role by doing something impressive.

According to PWInsider.com, SmackDown’s Drew McIntyre was ill last week and was only cleared to compete when he arrived to the arena. McIntyre was involved in a fatal five way match to crown a new #1 contender to the Intercontinental Title, which he co-won with Sheamus. Actions such as this has earned McIntyre respect in the locker room, where he is viewed as a leader for working through injuries and illnesses over the years. Following SmackDown, McIntyre also worked the weekend live events.

Opinion: That is the definition of leading by example, as McIntyre had something to do and he went out there and did it, despite not feeling up to his best. You can find people who do that, but doing it over and over is a way to earn a lot of respect. McIntyre has been a workhorse for WWE for a very long time now and it is great to see him getting the respect that he has earned.
