Match, don’t mix. The Women’s Revolution has completely changed the way wrestling works in WWE and I don’t think that’s any real secret. Female wrestlers have now turned into some of the biggest stars in the company and are having some of the best, most intense matches around. However, you never see them have matches against men. It turns out there’s a simple reason for that.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the main reason WWE doesn’t portray men attacking women or intergender wrestling in general is due to an agreement with Mattel, the company that manufactures their toys. When the deal was first signed, WWE agreed to never showcase men physically dominating women. This is in addition to WWE not wanting to anger the general audience who may not want to see such a thing.

In other words, this can’t happen again. Check out one of the biggest moments in women’s wrestling history that involved an intergender match:

Chyna wins her first Intercontinental Championship: No Mercy 1999

Opinion: I’m fine with this. There’s little reason to see intergender violence in wrestling and it’s not something that a lot of people are going to care to see. It might work once in awhile, but for the most part it comes off as shock value. The women’s divisions are doing just fine on their own and there’s no need to add in something like this that could alienate a lot of people, including those who want to see the PG product.
