Yes, again. WWE does all kinds of things in any given week and a lot of them are business as usual. Occasionally they will get on a run of strange decisions though and it can make things seem a bit confusing. That has been the case as of late with a series of name changes, and now it seems that WWE is planning to change even more names, no matter how odd they may be.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE is planning to change the names of two more longstanding members of the NXT roster. Kacy Catanzaro will now be known as Katana Blade and Kay Lee Ray will become Alba Fyre. There is no word on if this means either of the two will be called up to the main roster. This is part of Vince McMahon’s new rule that no wrestler can use part of their real name or a name they used outside of WWE.
Opinion: This is WWE’s thing at the moment and it isn’t exactly something that makes the most sense. It’s McMahon’s latest whim, but at the same time it is really annoying to see these people build up a name and then have it changed because McMahon suddenly has a new idea. If nothing else, how confused might some fans who don’t watch every week be if they don’t recognize any of these names? I don’t get this, and that tends to be the case with a lot of what WWE does.
