He’s gone. There are several different reasons why a wrestler will step away from the ring and end their in-ring career. Some of these are rather common, such as injuries or wear and tear on the body, while others are of a more serious nature. Unfortunately the latter is the case again and in this situation, a wrestler has decided to end his own career in light of various allegations.
Earlier this week, multiple wrestling promotions announced that they were cutting tied with Davey Richards. Following these announcements, Richards sent an email to PWInsider.com, revealing that there are allegations of domestic violence against him, which he “adamantly” denies. Richards also points out that no charges have been field against him, though he has decided to “cancel himself”. Therefore, he will be finishing up his remaining shows over the weekend and then retiring from professional wrestling. Richards, 40, is a former Ring Of Honor and PWG World Champion as well as a five time Impact Wrestling World Champion.
Davey Richards is off our April 14th event. A new main event will be announced at 2pm CT.

If you or someone you know needs assistance, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 800-799-7233.
Opinion: If Richards has these kinds of allegations against him, it is no surprise that he is gone from wrestling. These are very serious allegations and there if they are true, there is no way that he should be involved in the sport. Thankfully he has walked away on his own, though based on the amount of promotions that have cut ties with him, he might not have had much of a choice.
