One less pretty face. The GFW Knockouts were arguably the forerunners of the modern Women’s Revolution. They were presented as a bigger deal than a lot of the women of their day and that made them a lot more interesting than most of their WWE counterparts. Now though it turns out that one of them is hanging up the boots.
In an interview with WNPR, Velvet Sky announced her retirement. Sky is heading back to school at Post University as she says you can only wrestle for so long but you can obtain your degree at any time in your life. She also talks about wanting to stay healthy and go out in good shape rather than run her body down.
Velvet Sky Returns.. What Is Angelina Love's Reaction (May 8, 2015)
Opinion: Sky might not have been the best in-ring performer but she certainly had charisma. Her initial Knockouts Title win felt like a big deal and long deserved, even if she didn’t hang onto it that long. Sky is thirty six years old and seems to be leaving on her own terms, which is more than a lot of people could say.
What did you think of Sky’s career? Would you have liked to see her in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
