Corey Graves Suffers “Injury” During SmackDown Live

This ain’t ballet. Wrestling is a dangerous sport. You often hear about injuries taking place in wrestling, which could come from all kinds of things. It might be a botched spot, a slip in the ring, someone hitting you very hard, or just a freak accident. The injury bug has bitten someone else in WWE and this time, it’s not even someone actually wrestling. It’s one of those fluke accidents that you never see happening and should serve as a cautionary tale for all of us.

Corey Graves posted a photo on Instagram of him suffering a hand injury at SmackDown Live. During the show, New Day came to the ring for Miz TV and Big E. threw his ring jacket at Graves, causing Graves’ pencil to stab him in the hand. Graves did say that he powered through the broadcast but wanted Big E. brought to justice. While Graves is speaking in less than serious terms, he did seem to actually have injured his hand, albeit not seriously of course.

Last night during #SDLive, I suffered a debilitating injury, as a ring jacket was thrown at me, causing the point of my trusty pencil to be lodged in my palm. I powered through the broadcast, but the culprit MUST be brought to justice. The culprit, is none other than New Day member @wwebige ~ ???

Opinion: At least we didn’t have to lose Graves to any serious amount of time. It can be devastating to lose a commentator due to a fluke injury or accident, such as with the Great Antelope Incident of 1974. Thankfully this wasn’t quite as devastating, but a pencil can be rather sharp and pointy and could take out the toughest people in the world. You really do hear about it all the time and thankfully Graves was made of tougher lead than that.
