Main event ahoy. Two weeks ago, AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to become the new Smackdown World Champion, ending Mahal’s reign at just under six months. In theory the rematch would take place on the upcoming WWE tour of India but that wound up not being the case. Instead, the title match was announced for another specific date.
As announced on tonight’s episode of “Smackdown Live”, Styles will defend against Mahal in a rematch at the upcoming “Clash of Champions 2017” on December 17. Mahal was scheduled to receive his shot on tonight’s show but said that he didn’t want to do it on Styles’ time, instead waiting for a more appropriate occasion.
Here’s how the first match ended.
Jinder Mahal vs. AJ Styles - WWE Championship Match: SmackDown LIVE, Nov. 7, 2017
Opinion: If sanity prevails, we can be done with this Mahal experiment in about a month. I really wasn’t a fan of Mahal as champion and now it seems that we’re almost out of the woods with him. Styles is a big deal on “Smackdown Live” and it makes sense to have him as the top man. With the India tour taking place before the rematch, there’s no much of a reason to put the title back on him ever for the most part.
Who do you think will win at the pay per view? Will Mahal ever get the title back? Let us know in the comments below.
