There’s the big fish. Over the last few weeks, AEW has dominated the wrestling landscape without actually having a wrestling show. They’ve become the hottest discussion in wrestling though, with a lot of people wondering who all was going to be coming onto the roster. As it turns out, they have their eyes on a pretty big name, which would certainly make an impact.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW has reached out to CM Punk about appearing for the promotion in some undefined role, but Punk doesn’t seem interested. Punk, currently under contract to UFC, has lost his two mixed martial arts fights and hasn’t wrestled since his release from WWE back in 2014. He was originally contacted to work at All In but didn’t show any interest there either.
It’s been long enough. Check out this awesome Punk match from back in the day:
Opinion: I don’t think Punk is going to wrestle again and if he just doesn’t want to, there’s nothing requiring him to do so. He has a long legacy in wrestling already and maybe he just wants to be done with the whole thing. I don’t know how he’s doing financially but if he doesn’t have to wrestle again, so be it. There’s nothing wrong with asking if he wants to come back, but if it’s not going to happen, that’s fine too.
Do you think Punk should come back to AEW? Who else should they go after? Let us know in the comments below.
