And that’s it? While WWE brings in new wrestlers on a regular basis, it is rare to see someone brought in with quite the hype behind them. These are often the stars who have a special background to them or some kind of a major athletic career before they come to WWE. Now though, one of the most accomplished athletes outside of WWE has an unclear future in the company.

Earlier this week, news broke that NXT star Gable Steveson would not be competing at the amateur wrestling World Championships later this month. Now, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Steveson has been removed from the NXT roster and there are “no plans for him in NXT at the moment”. This does NOT mean that Steveson is done with WWE and it is not clear what is next for him in any capacity.

Opinion: I have no idea what this means but it does not seem to be the best sign for Steveson’s future in the company. At the end of the day, he has been signed for around two years, has had one match, and has only appeared about ten times anywhere. That is not a good sign for his progress and while there is a chance that something could change, I’m not sure how much stock I would put in his future.
