Stick around for a bit. The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works and in a good way. Above all else, for the first time in over twenty years, there is a viable second national promotion in the United States and that opens up a lot of doors. It allows wrestlers to have a new option, and now one big name seems to have used that leverage to his benefit.
According to Fightful Select, Kevin Owens has signed a new multi-year deal with WWE. This comes as Owens’ contract was set to expire in January, which had been alluded to on WWE TV. WWE reportedly made him an “excellent offer” to stay around and are said to be very happy that he is staying. Owens is currently scheduled to take part in the fatal four way for the WWE Title at Day One on January 1.
Owens has had quite the run with WWE. Check out some of his time in the company:
Opinion: Good for Owens. I know some people aren’t going to be happy with the situation as they wanted Owens in AEW, but ultimately this seems to be the best option for Owens and his family. It’s not like Owens has been totally wasted in WWE and he is currently in the main event scene on Monday Night Raw. Maybe that doesn’t go anywhere, but WWE needed a win like this after so many departures.
What do you think of Owens’ decision? What should he do next in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
