Something about the world being a vampire. Late last year, Billy Corgan tried and failed to buy “Impact Wrestling”, leading to a huge series of lawsuits that saw Corgan frozen out of the company after funding the company for several months. Corgan has been trying to get into the wrestling business since back in the ECW days. Now though he seems to have found a way in.
According to PWInsider by way of 411mania.com, Corgan has bought the National Wrestling Alliance. The purchase means Corgan will own the organization itself, the rights to the name and the NWA World Title. The NWA has been around since 1948 and still has regular title changes, though it hasn’t been on the national stage since a TNA withdrew from the organization back in 2007.
Opinion: Well that’s…..something. The NWA hasn’t really meant anything in well over twenty years but maybe it could work a bit better with someone fresh behind it. I don’t think Corgan is going to be able to make the whole thing into a major force but just putting them back on the map, even a blip on the map, could be worth something.
