There’s the line of thinking. Every now and then, you see something in wrestling that does not make a ton of sense. It can leave wrestling fans sitting around wondering what is going on and what the company is thinking. That was the case earlier this summer with one of the highest profile moments in a long time, and now we know more about how the thinking went.
Back at Summerslam, Becky Lynch made her return after a sixteen month absence and defeated Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Lynch appeared on the Out Of Character podcast and discussed the match, including why it was a short squash. Lynch explained that WWE did not want to damage Belair, which would have been the case had they had a long match where Belair just lost. Instead, the idea was to have Belair lose so fast, leaving fans to think that Belair was cheated and want to see her get her revenge. Belair will face Lynch and Sasha Banks for the title at Crown Jewel next week.
These two do have quite the rivalry. Check out how things have gone between them:
Opinion: This is something that makes sense, but it is still a little hard to take. Belair did accept the challenge and it is a bit of a stretch to suggest that she was treated unfairly. Hopefully Belair can bounce back to where she was before and then even higher, but at least she has already had one major title reign. Now just find a way for her to do something else and she should be fine.
