Another Former World Champion Confirmed For Greatest Royal Rumble

Well he’s done it before. The Royal Rumble debuted back in 1988 and has had a wide variety of winners over the years. Winning the match often leads you on a path to greatness with a majority of the winners being either former or future World Champions. The winners receiving World Title shots down the line makes that even easier. There have been all shapes and sizes of winners, but one is a big smaller than the rest. That winner is now competing in the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble and that makes him a potential winner.

He’s been around lately.

According to PWInsider.com by way of 411mania.com, Rey Mysterio has been added to the Greatest Royal Rumble. The event, which takes place on April 27 live from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will feature a fifty man Royal Rumble match. At the moment there are twenty one names announced with eight of them being former World Champions. Mysterio won the 2006 Royal Rumble and went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania 22. He also appeared in this year’s Royal Rumble, making his first appearance for WWE in nearly four years.

Opinion: My goodness they really are starting to live up to the show’s name. At this point the show might actually include the greatest Royal Rumble of all time, which I never thought would actually be the case. This match’s lineup is incredible, and that’s not even looking at the rest of the show. The match itself could be a lot of fun and hopefully the winner gets some kind of a prize in return. I could imagine a World Title shot to the winner, as it would seem to be rather appropriate.
