He’s gone. There are all kinds of people who work together to make a wrestling show a reality and several of them are rarely in front of a television camera. Those are the backstage workers who fill a variety of roles that keep things working. It makes a lot of sense to have a former wrestler doing one of those jobs, but AEW is now going to be missing someone.

AEW has announced that producer BJ Whitmer has been fired from the company following a domestic violence arrest. AEW said that while Whitmer is responsible for his own actions, his behavior is “intolerable” and will not be accepted in the company. According to Fightful, Whitmer was arrested in Boone County, Kentucky (near Cincinnati, Ohio) and is charged with first degree strangulation and second degree burglary. There is no court date thus far.
B.J. Whitmer has been terminated following his arrest on domestic violence charges. While talent and staff are ultimately responsible for their own personal actions, this behavior is intolerable within AEW. AEW has reached out to offer support to those impacted by his behavior.

Opinion: I’m not sure what else could have been done here as there is no place for this kind of alleged behavior anywhere, including a professional wrestling company. AEW did not have much of a choice in this and they did not seem to waste much time. Whitmer was a talented wrestler and helped AEW, but this goes way beyond anything he could offer the company in any fashion.
