Out of three, one. Stories in wrestling can change in a hurry but sometimes you get one that lasts for a long time. That can often be the case with title reigns, including one that started all the way back at WrestleMania 36 in April. Holding a WWE World Title for almost five months is quite the accomplishment these days but Drew McIntyre has made it work. Now we know what he has to do to make it last even longer.

One of the biggest problems with having a lengthy World Title reign is a champion running out of challengers. McIntyre has been starting to have the same problem has he has defended the title against several different opponents, including the top heels on Monday Night Raw. He needed someone else to face, but there were not a lot of fresh names to challenge him. The problem was solved on Monday.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Randy Orton became #1 contender to McIntyre’s WWE Championship and will receive his shot at Clash Of Champions on September 27. earned the title shot in a triple threat match also involving Seth Rollins and Keith Lee, which was set up through a series of singles matches earlier in the night. Orton’s title shot comes after he was defeated by McIntyre at Summerslam but Punted him three times on last week’s Monday Night Raw.

It’s a rivalry renewed. Check out how Orton and McIntyre got to Clash Of Champions:

Opinion: This makes as much sense as anything else as they had set up Orton vs. McIntyre II for Clash Of Champions before tonight. There was no reason to mess around and go in another direction so they went with the smart move here. That’s always appreciated as sometimes the best solution is the simplest, and that’s what we got out of the whole series of matches.

Do you agree with Orton as #1 contender? Who will leave as champion? Let us know in the comments below.
