White had the following to say:
“Lesnar was still under contract with WWE till next August. Who knows what would have happened. I don’t count my chickens anymore, I’ll tell you that.”
WWE allowed Lesnar to compete at UFC 200 back in July 2016. However, Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance after completing the fight, receiving a one-year suspension as punishment. This made WWE and their wellness policy look bad, so they likely won’t want to put themselves in that situation again.
“They didn’t want to do that again,. You saw what happened last time he was under contract and it doesn’t look good for anybody.”
Lesnar has said he is retired from MMA but over the summer there was speculation that he would potentially fight Jon Jones, who captured the Light Heavyweight Championship in July. However, he also met the same fate as he did when he tested positive for a banned substance. This put an end to the potential for a fight between the two.
