In an article listed on their official website, WWE have confirmed that ‘Raw’ and ‘Smackdown Live’ will be moving forward in unison for PPVs.
While they didn’t provide a reason for the change, it has been widely reported that the decision was made due to the money the WWE Network is making combined with the lack of ticket sales at events.
The lineup of PPVs for this year is as follows:
WrestleMania 34 – April 8, 2018
WWE Backlash – May 6, 2018
WWE Money in the Bank – June 17, 2018
WWE Extreme Rules – July 15, 2018
SummerSlam – Aug. 19, 2018
WWE Hell in a Cell – Sept. 16, 2018
WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs – Oct. 21, 2018
Survivor Series – Nov. 18, 2018
WWE Clash of Champions – Dec. 16, 2018
If you’re a keen observer, you’ll notice several PPVs are missing and others have had their dates changed.
Missing are ‘Great Balls of Fire,’ ‘No Mercy,’ ‘Battleground’ and ‘Payback.’ There is no word on if WWE will bring them back later this year again as a surprise or whether they will appear in the future.
‘WrestleMania 34’ is the first co-branded PPV moving forward. Check out the video below on ten of the best moments from the show in history.
