According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, rumors are circulating that WWE is interested in signing Rob Gronkowski to a full-time contract. Gronkowski, who is a current Tight End for the New England Patriots, is a big wrestling fan and has made appearances with the company before.
You can see him assisting Mojo Rawley, who also happens to be a real-life friend, win the “Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal” at WrestleMania 33 below:
The Patriots recently lost Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles. After the game, when asked about his future, he responded with the following:
“I don’t know how you heard that, but I mean I’m definitely going to look at my future, for sure,” Gronkowski said. “I’m going to sit down in the next couple of weeks and see where I’m at.”
WWE has recently signed Ronda Rousey, another former athlete in another sport, to a long-term contract.
Editor’s Opinion:
If Gronk ends up not wanting to play football anymore, this could be a great move for both him and WWE. Not only would he be able to limit the stress that his body takes, but this would bring another major athlete to the world of professional wrestling, which could be a game-changer for the company.
