RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is often referred to as the “baddest woman on the planet.” While Rousey often plays a tough character, she has dealt with her demons over the years.
Rousey’s father and grandfather both took their own lives. This affected the Champion tremendously. You can see in the short video we’ve provided below just how this affected her mentally.
As TMZ report, Rousey is now helping Melissa Rivers to open the Didi Hirch Suicide Prevention Center. On Thursday, she and Rivers held an event outside the building, which is set to open on February 22.
Both Rousey and Rivers have stressed the importance of eliminating the stigma that surrounds mental health. People should feel comfortable to get help.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Rousey had the following comment on the matter:
“My message that I would give is [to] reach out don’t tough it out.”
The RAW Women’s Champion helping to open the center should not come as a surprise to people familiar with the UFC Hall of Famer. She received the Erasing the Stigma Leadership Award back in 2014 for her help with the Didi Hirch Mental Health Services.
Editor’s Note:
I think this is a terrific thing for her to do. I am extremely proud to see she has the courage to stand up and fight for mental health, given what her family has been through.
While you’re here, I recommend you take a look at why Seth Rollins may be out of action for a short period of time. Read that here.
Were you aware of Rousey’s history with suicide prevention? Do you think this center will help?
