Former Universal Champion Roman Reigns shocked the wrestling world on the October 23, 2018 edition of Monday Night RAW when he relinquished his WWE Universal Championship and revealed to everyone that his leukemia had returned following 11 years of remission.

During his time away from the WWE cameras, Reigns has not let the disease get to him. He actually started treatment for the disease on October 19, 2018. That is 3 days prior to his announcement.

Reigns now has an official Instagram account. He would confirm his inclusion alongside his cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw spin-off.

The post, as you can see above, features an update from Reigns on his health. He confirms that he is doing well and the outreach and support have motivated him to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

As it stands, principal photography on the film started in London, England on September 10, 2018. Since that time, filming has taken place in Glasgow and at the Eggborough Power Station in North Yorkshire. It is also being reported that other locations in Hawaii and the United Kingdom may be featured throughout the film.

If you’re hoping to see Reigns in the film, you can view it when it is released in cinemas on August 2, 2019. Previously, the film had been slated for a release on July 26, 2019. This was ultimately pushed back by Universal Studios to likely allow more room to make the film better.

In the meantime, WWE has revealed that Reigns will be attending two meet and greets. These will take place in Pittsburgh, PA on February 8 and in Indianapolis, IN on February 10. You can visit him at either of these events, which are advertised for World of Wheels.

Editor’s Note:

I’m super excited to see Reigns is doing well. Also excited to see what he does in Hobbs & Shaw. Should be a great year for Reigns, as he seems to be doing well with his leukemia.

While you’re here, I would recommend taking a look at what Mustafa Ali had to say about his move from 205 Live to SmackDown Live. Read that here.

Will you be watching Hobbs & Shaw? Do any of the meet and greets interest you?
