In the past, Ross has explained that Braun Strowman will be the top star of WWE, but he feels this shouldn’t happen until 2019. He’d be very happy to see a heel Roman Reigns take on a babyface Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 35.
While Ross did mention Strowman, he has also now revealed another Raw Superstar he feels will be a future Universal Champion, and it is a name the audience will most likely want to see in that position.
He had the following to say:
“[Drew McIntyre] looks great, he sounds great, he’s in great condition, he’s just getting better and better,” said Ross. “He’s a big-time player. I could see, very easily, Drew McIntyre being a Universal or WWE Champion down the road. Without a doubt. It’s a lay-up; trust me on this one.”
McIntyre worked with WWE back in 2009 when he was just a 24-year-old. Working the blue brand as a heel, he was soon coined “The Chosen One” by Vince McMahon, defeating John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship just three months later.
Soon after being drafted to Raw, McIntyre was placed as a member of the 3MB faction alongside former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Heath Slater. This eventually led to his release.
Now back and better than ever, McIntyre is making a name for himself alongside Dolph Ziggler on Raw. Ross can see the potential there, as can the majority of fans watching.
