The ‘Broken’ gimmick is the previous iteration of Matt Hardy’s character and was a prominent part of his time in Impact Wrestling for the last year or so of his career with the company as Jeff Hardy took on the Brother Nero character.
There is no word beyond this on how much WWE paid Impact to attain the license, but Matt reached an agreement last month with Anthem Sports and he now owns the rights to the “Broken Universe.”
According to the same report, WWE may be looking at creating an exclusive episode of WWE 24 looking into the Hardy Brothers, which would include a DVD release highlighting the tag team.
As the character was created on Impact television, WWE would need their permission (and thus the license they attained) to include their footage so the WWE 24 and DVD would feel more complete.
If you never saw the work the two Hardy Brothers did in Impact Wrestling with their characters, watch the clip below of their ‘Final Deletion.’
Are you interested in a WWE 24 on this? Would you buy the Hardy Boyz DVD?
