Former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion Ayako Hamada was arrested at her home in Japan this past Sunday. The entire incident that led to her arrest was bizarre in nature, as well.
Hamada originally told a wrestling promoter she wouldn’t be able to attend a show at a scheduled event as she was being held at knifepoint.
This obviously led to the police and other authorities being called to come and help her. However, police arrived to find Hamada “rambling incoherently and behaving in a strange manner.”
Soon after, she tested positive for drugs, admitting she had been taking them up her nose. While the specific drug Hamada used isn’t known, we know she did snort a stimulant drug.
As such, the 37-year-old wrestler was arrested and is currently awaiting the next steps in her criminal case. Typically speaking, Japanese authorities aren’t too fond of any drug-related crimes, so it doesn’t look good for Hamada.
Wrestling Rumors will continue to update you as more news does come out on the arrest of the former Champion. We do hope she gets the help she needs as soon as possible.
