It finally happened! Carmella finally cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on SmackDown Live last night. Did she leave the show as Champion, or was Charlotte Flair able to stop her?
Flair hit the ring following her incredible match against 2018 Royal Rumble winner Asuka at WrestleMania 34, and she asks the audience whose turn is it next so she can make magic with them.
When nobody immediately appears, Flair continues to speak but is soon cut off by music unfamiliar to fans of the main roster. It is all too familiar for those who avidly watch NXT.
The Iconic Duo seemingly rebranded as The Iconics in Peyton Royce and Billie Kay make their main roster debut on SmackDown Live. They hit the ring, cutting a promo on Flair’s nature in thanking the fans and praising Asuka for what is now a match of the past.
The duo attack Flair, throwing her around ringside. Once they are finished and walking up the ramp, the familiar music of Carmella hit, as she runs towards the ring, latching her arm onto the shirt of a referee who had been walking up the ramp after stopping the Iconics’ attack on Flair.
After a lot of back and forth between Carmella and the referee, the match is made official, and Carmella landed a nasty kick to Charlotte and pinned her in mere seconds to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion.
