Monday afternoon, 40 finalists were announced for the upcoming edition of “WWE Tough Enough.” The list featured many familiar names to the professional wrestling world, including one who has even been on WWE programming before.
Adam Ohriner, popularly known as “The Big O,” was selected as one of the Top 40. Ohriner is a wrestler on the independent scene, and is known as one of Zack Ryder’s best friends.
Following finding out about the news, Ryder was interviewed by WWE about the selection and how they met:
“Fall of 2008, he was the loud obnoxious guy at the gym with the short shorts and the stringer tank tops, always grunting and screaming and I hated his guts. And I’ll never forget, I was doing standing calf raises, and he took my headphones out, put his in my ear, and it was ‘Summertime’ by New Kids on the Block. And ever since then, we’ve been best broskis. So, I can’t believe it. He might be here. You might be interviewing him one day. We could be, you could be interviewing us. As a tag team. As the tag team champions, maybe.”
He also gave his thoughts on whether “The Big O” actually stood a chance in the competition:
“I mean, he’s nuts. I think he’s going to be eliminated first or win the whole thing, to be honest. But he is larger than life, he is a character. And if you can’t handle the heat, you’ve gotta get out of the O-Zone, right? Right? Right? That’s his catchphrase.”
Ohriner established a following via Ryder’s “Z! True Long Island Story” show he used to have on YouTube, which allowed him to pursue an independent wrestling career.
