Just minutes after confirming Ryback would defend his recently-won Intercontinental Championship against Big Show at “Money in the Bank” this coming Sunday, the company made another announcement regarding its titles. This one concerns the ladies, however.

WWE.com noted prior to “Monday Night Raw” WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella would be squaring off with Paige at “Money in the Bank.” This would confirm Naomi, who challenged for the title the past month, is out of the picture.

Paige won the No. 1-contender battle royal for the title back in April, but was taken out by Naomi out of anger. This allowed her time off, as she filmed a new movie alongside fellow WWE Superstar The Miz. She then returned, and was involved in a triple-threat match for the title at “Elimination Chamber.” She was unsuccessful in her challenge, however.

She then cut a promo this past week on “Thursday Night Smackdown,” where she claimed there would be a new change in the Divas Division, insinuating something major was ahead. This was even a point of emphasis made by WWE leading up to this week’s edition of “RAW.” On last week’s show, the Bella Twins seemingly turned heel after pulling “Twin Magic” for the first time since being marketed as singles stars last year.

With her movie promotion coming in the next several months, it is possible WWE will market Paige as one of its top divas. “Total Divas” also premieres shortly, which means both Divas will be prominently featured on WWE television. Paige joined the cast last year, and was well-received among the audience for her personality and escapades. The Bellas, of course, are the faces of the show, which may be why these two entities will face one another in the coming months.

Editor’s Note

The matches have to deliver. Here’s to hoping they do.
