Bill Goldberg’s name has been a hot topic in the wrestling industry over the last week, after the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion expressed interest in working WrestleMania 31. And now, that appears to be a possibility.
According to F4WOnline.com, WWE is set to make a push to sign Goldberg and get him involved with the big event in Santa Clara, Calif. in some way. Interestingly enough, the report mentions that WWE would not be making the typical push it would make towards other big names.
Instead, it seems WWE will take the approach it took with The Ultimate Warrior. The report states that Goldberg would be a main focal point of the WWE 2K15 video game, with a big marketing push made around “SummerSlam.”
Following that, the company would then piggyback off of the hype and use that to build him for a major spot at WrestleMania 31. Goldberg himself has said he would love for his son and family to see him wrestle in person one last time. However, it should be noted that the 47-year-old has not wrestled full-time since beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in New York City back in 2004.
Editor’s Note:
This is a huge break in news, if true. Goldberg would be a major draw for the show, though I doubt just how well he’d be able to work. I think WWE using him like how it did with Warrior would be very wise, as there is definitely marketability in that.
