Earlier this week, it was reported WWE would be moving “Thursday Night Smackdown” to the USA Network, home of “Monday Night Raw.” The move will go into effect next year, and will package all of WWE’s televised programming on the same network.
In an update provided by F4WOnline, new details have been revealed as to what many WWE fans can expect once the move is completed and the programming is all packaged together.
According to the report, WWE will begin to place even more emphasis on “Smackdown’s” booking, something it begun to do when the show moved from Friday nights to Thursday nights earlier this year. The move will see more angles be booked to carry over from “RAW” into “Smackdown,” given USA will give the show more viewership and more prominent promotion.
With more promotion, the company is also expected to showcase more stars on the show, rather than clearly notating it as the “B” show. It is expected to stack the show when there is cross-promotion to be done as the move begins to gear up, so fans can expect larger names to make appearances on it as it draws closer.
WWE moved “Smackdown” to SyFy in 2010. It originally debuted on network television in 1999 via UPN.
Editor’s Note
I’m excited to see what this brings. USA is a well-regarded network, so viewership should increase, as will quality of programming.
