Thursday, Wrestling Rumors reported on the lawsuit filed by WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann against former WWE Champion CM Punk and fellow star Colt Cabana.
In the lawsuit, Amann alleges Cabana, real name Scott Colton, allowed his friend Phil Brooks to go off on his podcast about claims of being prescribed Z-Pak by Amann when in reality, he was suffering from a staph infection incurable by such a drug. It was said the lawsuit was for $1 million in damages.
However, a report from the Chicago Sun-Times has provided an update on the potential court case, which goes more in-depth and gives further details.
According to the outlet, Amann filed a two-count lawsuit, suing not just for money for defamation, but also on the grounds of invasion of privacy. It also states it is not for $1 million, but actually $2 million.
Amann claims Punk never made him aware of any lump, and he properly followed all of WWE’s concussion protocol despite the former champion claiming otherwise.
Punk and Cabana have yet to comment publicly on the lawsuit.
Editor’s Note
This is going to get ugly, because now WWE lawyers will get involved. I find the invasion of privacy claim interesting given Amann is visible on WWE TV every week.
