Dave Meltzer stated on his Wrestling Observer Radio program this past weekend that WWE superstar Rey Mysterio is slated to be available to return in June. Mysterio has been sidelined with ongoing knee issues, but not a torn ACL as previously believed.

Prior to the injury however, rumors had circulated that relations between WWE and Mysterio were shaky after the latter requested time off to deal with family issues, alongside his nagging injuries and drug suspension. Meltzer provided insight, saying that 38-year-old may be done with WWE after all. He had the following to say:

“The official company line on Rey Mysterio is that he will be back, hopefully, in June, after rehabbing the knee. But he may not be back at all. And it’s not retirement, but there’s something going on. There was stuff going on that they were working on perhaps a release, but they want merchandising rights. But officially he’ll back in June.”

WWE had plans to use both Mysterio and Sin Cara in some sort of WrestleMania 29 match, but those plans have since been shelved.
