Update on Naomi’s Injury and Plans for “Total Divas”

WWE diva Naomi’s eye injury is worse than expected, but the company is ready to run with it, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.

Naomi was injured in a match last week, but thought little of the hinderance. However, her eye apparently began to swell up, and she immediately was sent to the hospital for further examination. The tests revealed that she had a fractured orbital bone on the insider of her eye socket, which was more significant than initially believed. She will be re-evaluated within the next week.

Despite her scheduled Elimination Chamber program with current Divas Champion AJ Lee, it is said that WWE is not panicking, as it can use the storyline in part of “Total Divas.” Naomi was set to be a big star this season, as her marriage was filmed and showcased for the show.

The belief is that WWE can take the angle that she got hurt in the midst of a title push may be the route they take for the show, with the idea being that if she can get healthy for WrestleMania and still perform making it even bigger. If that doesn’t happen though and she needs surgery, they can go the route of her being let down and disappointed.

The show is in the midst of production for its second season.
