Back in April, it was noted that former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Chris Sabin was leaving the company after 10 years of service with the promotion down in Orlando, Fla. At the time, there had been uncertainty as to why he left the company, though speculation was that TNA low-balled him with money.
This week, PWInsider.com has confirmed this. Sabin’s departure appears to be a result of a low contract offer, and not Sabin’s desire to leave the company itself. Money has been tight in TNA as of late, and his contract expiration goes along the trend of many others who have left the company. Wrestling Rumors noted on Wednesday that former multi-time Tag Team Champion Hernandez confirmed he too had left.
As noted, Sabin is one of only seven men to have won the World Heavyweight Championship, X-Division Championship and Tag Team Championship during his tenure with the company. Interestingly enough, Sabin had his World Heavyweight Championship run happen relatively recently, winning the title for the first time last summer.
Prior to leaving, he had been involved in a program with Alpha Male and Velvet Sky.
Editor’s Note:
Another situation where I can’t say I’m surprised. He was a good worker, but ultimately made very little of a draw in the company when all was said and done.
