It was recently reported former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton had signed a new, limited dates-oriented deal with WWE that will give him a little more time off than he previously accumulated. And according to a new report by Variety, Orton will be making good use of that time.
The outlet reports WWE Studios has tapped Orton to be the star of the sequel to “The Condemned,” entitled “The Condemned 2: Desert Prey.”
Lionsgate co-chief operating officer and motion picture group president Steve Beeks issued the following statement regarding the movie:
“We are excited to be reteaming with the WWE on ‘The Condemned 2,’ after such a positive experience on the original film. The combination of their brand marketing capabilities, creativity and deep lineup of dynamic onscreen talent result in a powerful partnership.”
The original film starred “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and was released in 2007. It currently holds a 15 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
WWE Studios and Lionsgate have been collaborating on six low-budget movies that will star WWE Superstars. Among them are Big Show’s “Vandetta,”, “See No Evil 2,” and the flop “Leprechaun: Origins.”
Wrestling Rumors noted Dean Ambrose also recently took time off from the ring to film “Lockdown,” an action flick starring the “Lunatic Fringe.”
