It was noted last week TNA on-screen authority figure MVP had injured his knee in a match off television, drawing concerns he would be out of action for some time. This would be damaging to the main event of TNA’s “Slammiversary” pay-per-view, where he had been booked to face TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young for the championship in the main event.
And now, it appears TNA will have to make a change to the final match on the card.
TNA Executive Vice President John Gaburick announced on Twitter MVP suffered a torn meniscus and is unable to compete at the show.
#Breaking @The305MVP suffered a torn meniscus during his last match. This morning, doctors deemed him unable to compete this Sunday!

Additionally, Gaburick provided a further update about the main event.
A fair replacement main event for #Slammiversary will be announced later today. More details ASAP at http://t.co/43MMygRZlB.

MVP turned heel on Young last month, setting up a showdown between the two. He is also joined by Bobby Lashley, who is seen by many as a logical choice to replace him in the main event.
He hurt his knee while taped episodes of “Impact Wrestling” were airing, as the company had taped several weeks of television leading up to the pay-per-view. For this reason, he appeared healthy on all shows.
Editor’s Note
You think this is bad news? Wow. TNA better have a legitimate backup plan here. Yikes.
