Coming off a pay-per-view, it is not uncommon for “Monday Night Raw” to experience a good week with viewership. That was the case last week, as the post-“Money in the Bank” edition of “RAW” drew a solid 4,114,000 viewers averaged throughout the whole show. It was the highest showing since the go-home edition of “RAW” prior to WrestleMania this past year.
However, as this week’s episode shows, not all good things last very long.
The latest viewership information for the June 22 edition of “RAW” shows some troubling signs for WWE, as several weeks still remain before July’s “Battleground” pay-per-view. The overall average number for the show comes in at 3,671,000, which is significantly down since last week.
The hourly breakdown is as followed:
Hour 1 – 3,594,000
Hour 2 – 3,606,000
Hour 3 – 3,812,000
It should be noted, the third hour of the program featured segments with John Cena and Kevin Owens alongside Brock Lesnar confronting Seth Rollins and The Authority. The fact that there was viewership increase as the program went on is good, but the number overall is still drastically lower than the prior week. to put things into comparison, last week’s numbers broke down as followed:
Hour 1 – 4,095,000
Hour 2 – 4,249,000
Hour 3 – 3,997,000
This pattern would insinuate WWE actually did a better job at maintaining viewership throughout this past week’s edition, though overall, the third hour last week was still higher than any hour this week. The overall rating for “RAW” has yet to come in, though it is expected it will be in the mid-2s in comparison to other episodes.
This week’s episode was primarily built around Seth Rollins aiming to get support from The Authority, leading to an apology he issued at the end of the evening. In the final segment, Jamie Noble was legitimately injured by Lesnar, breaking three ribs and knocking the wind out of him.
Editor’s Note
I don’t know how much ratings matter much more for WWE, but still, I’d be a bit concerned.
