Thursday, rumors began to spread Jerry “The King” Lawler would be replaced as host of the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony by Eva Marie of “Total Divas” fame. The broadcast will be aired live on the WWE Network March 28 just prior to WrestleMania the next day.
However, a new report has since squashed the rumor of Lawler’s replacement.
Per wrestling journalist Bill Apter, “The King” personally texted Apter himself to confirm he would remain host of the ceremony, not to be replaced by the WWE Diva. This is not to say Marie will not make an appearance at the show as she did last year, but she will not host.
Lawler found himself moved to “Thursday Night Smackdown’s” announcing crew earlier this year in a move many cited as WWE attempting to phase him off programming as it did with Jim Ross. He has since remained on pay-per-views alongside Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield.
Marie has been out of action for some time as she dealt with complications from cosmetic surgery. She recently announced she had returned to training as she attempts to make up time she missed while dealing with the medical issues.
Editor’s Note
It ultimately means very little, but if Lawler were replaced, she would not have been the right selection.
