Last week, the Golden State Warriors pulled off what seemed to be the impossible. The franchise brought home its first NBA title in more than 40 years, bringing the championship-hungry city of Oakland a meal worth holding out for. The team was arguably the best in the league all season long, and utilized a dynamic group of personalities to reach its goal.
One of the notable stars, with a personality more dynamic than many, was Draymond Green. The 25-year-old small forward was excellent in the postseason for Golden State, averaging 13.7 points per game over the course of the team’s championship run. And it turns out, Green has an affinity for championship gold himself.
Green is a longtime wrestling fan, dubbed by many as one of the biggest “heels” in basketball. Following the championship win, it turns out he had some WWE gold made up for himself, as revealed in an Instagram post:
The belt displayed in the post shows off a custom Golden State Warriors logo on both plates, as WWE customizes both plates for its actual champions. It is unknown if Green ordered this himself, or if WWE had the belt delivered to him personally. It has become sort of a trend within WWE, as the company will often send belts to champions. It has sent belts to Cy Young Award winners, and even LeBron James got a hookup from his good friend The Rock. Typically, Vince McMahon is behind the move, though it is unsure at this time if this was the case.
Nonetheless, it appears there will be more gold going around the appropriately-named Golden State locker room going forward.
Editor’s Note
Love the customized plates, wish WWE had a deal where it did this for every champion!
