Earlier this month, “SummerSlam” was confirmed for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will be the first time the pay-per-view has emanated from the relatively new arena, and relieved WWE of having to move the event outside of the New York/New Jersey market.
As noted by PWInsider, the company will also be keeping WWE programming in the area following the biggest pay-per-view of the summer.
As the WWE travel packages for “SummerSlam” reveal, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center is set to host both “SummerSlam” and “RAW” the following night after the pay-per-view. It is not often WWE holds tapings in consecutive nights at the same arena, so this is a rarity.
WWE had originally planned to hold “SummerSlam” at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but plans for that fell through when the arena was ordered to be closed by government officials. It is likely, given WWE doesn’t often do host venues for consecutive tapings, the company had been planning to host “RAW” from Barclays all along. Generally, tapings are held within relative proximity of one another, and the venue has hosted the show multiple times.
It is unknown at this time where the “Smackdown” tapings for that week will be at this time, though they are likely to be in the general area as well.
Editor’s Note
Smart move, and will be cool and easy for people who missed out on the pay-per-view to get tickets.
