The card is locking into place, and WrestleMania is less than a month away. The card has its critics–and there are a few bits we’re disappointed with, too–but it sounds like that criticism isn’t having an effect on ticket sales.
According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), WrestleMania is nearly sold out. At the time of the report, only 250 tickets of the 55,000 capacity remained, which means it’s pretty much certain that primary market tickets will be sold out well before the event.
Things are a bit softer on the secondary market, with tickets that bottom out at $160 face value going for as little as $120.
Still, it’s a looking like a legit sell-out for WWE, and they have to be very pleased with that.
Seven matches are currently booked for the show, and it’s more or less the same as the rumored card that was presented months ago. The show will be headlined by Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title, and Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Title.
WrestleMania tends to sell well almost regardless of the specifics of the show’s card, especially given that travelling fans would likely book months before the details of the event were known. The real test from a marketing perspective will be Network numbers and social media buzz.
