It’s the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania, and Fastlane promises to answer some of the biggest questions we’ve had going into WWE’s biggest show. All of Raw’s titles are on the line—aside from the US Championship and its sadly-wrecked owner—so there’s a lot at stake for the red brand’s biggest stars.
Tonight’s marquee match was Goldberg vs Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. Goldberg was a few months removed from a shocking 90-second win over Brock Lesnar, while Owens had just savagely freed himself from the bonds of friendship by turning on his best buddy Chris Jericho. Presumably, KO wanted to reignite the mean streak that he’d lost as champ, but we kinda all figured this would be a squash in Goldberg’s favor.
Owens prolonged things by rolling out of the ring countless times just prior to the ringing of the bell in an attempt to get inside Goldberg’s head. Once the bell rung, though? Jericho immediately made his entrance, distracting Owens and giving Goldberg the chance to hit the spear. A few seconds and a jackhammer later, Goldberg is the new Universal Champion.
Fastlane is a Raw-branded pay-per-view running live on the WWE Network from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In case you’ve lost track, it leaves us less than 30 days away from WrestleMania in Orlando on April 2nd. Check in for even more live coverage here, on Facebook, and on Twitter!
