Ready to start speculating on a Hardy return to WWE all over again? Well, you’re in luck! Because there’s reason to start the talk all over again.
We reported earlier that there’s a solid chance the Hardys could appear at WrestleMania, and now some more details have emerged on their current status.
According to a report by PWInsider (which comes to us by way of 411Mania), the legal situation between the Hardys and Impact owners Anthem Media is getting far more serious. Anthem continues to claim that they own the “Broken” gimmick, while the Hardys continue to assert otherwise.
The matter is likely to go to court, and it seems Anthem is after a licensing deal, where the “Broken” gimmick could continue, but they’d see a piece of any revenue. “Broken” Matt has been asked to tone the act down in ROH in response to Anthem’s cease and desist letters.
We already heard that the Hardys had been offered a WWE contract, but the new details suggest that contract would only be for Matt and Jeff, with no deals extended to Reby, Senor Benjamin, or young King Maxel. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t appear–but it’s unlikely they’d be making regular appearances without a contract.
Additionally, the current Hardy deal with Ring of Honor is expected to end on April 1st at Supercard of Honor. That’s one night before WrestleMania, if you’re keeping track. The Hardys will be defending the Tag Team Championship at that show, and if they lose it there–well, you can guess the implications.
