Will ESPN be covering WWE “SummerSlam” live from the Barclays Center next Sunday?
As reported earlier today, former WWE employee and current “SportsCenter” anchor Jonathan Coachman teased on his official Twitter account that he would be in Brooklyn for “SummerSlam” on Aug. 23:
So next weekend does anyone know of anything to do in Brooklyn. Don’t have anything on my schedule. No wait… Yes I do. #SS

“@JoshNASCARWWE: @TheCoachESPN Will we see you on air? The masses want to know!”-I’m not going just to be a spectator. #sportscenter. — Jonathan Coachman (@TheCoachESPN) August 16, 2015
ESPN has focused significant time this year towards several WWE stories, and has used Coachman’s previous experiences to help them reach that previously untouched market.
Coachman has been called upon this year to discuss such topics as Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract extension prior to WrestleMania 31, as well as recently discussing his memories of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes – two WWE legends who have passed away over the last few months.
Editor’s Note:
I hope this trend continues with WWE getting airtime on ESPN programming. As a big sports guy myself, I know that there are many WWE fans who watch ESPN’s programming on a daily basis, and would benefit from this type of cross promotion. If this “SportsCenter” coverage is a success, hopefully we see similar “On The Road” segments in the near future.
