In a story first reported earlier today, UFC President Dana White had a Twitter exchange with a WWE fan regarding UFC’s Pay-Per-View prices, and how they compare to the WWE Network’s cost of $9.99. White then claimed that, “it’s $9.99 because professional wrestling is fake,” which was met with ill favor from the wrestling community.
Since then, many professional wrestling stars have weighed in on their views on just how “fake” professional wrestling is, which can be seen below (This post will continue to be updated as more Tweets come in):
Donate your PPV dollars to paralyzed wrestler @NikBali via PayPal: [email protected]. He could use the money more than @danawhite! RT!

Legit cancelled my UFC buy for tonight. Instead sending $50 to @NikBali, a UK wrestler paralyzed during a fake wrestling match. @danaWhite. — Jeremy Borash (@JeremyBorash) August 1, 2015
I live in Nashville. Your brilliance continues. https://t.co/PgCwOhDTFp

Maybe I’ll buy an @JessySorensen shirt instead of the UFC fight. You know-that guy who defeated paralysis after “fake” wrestling? @danawhite — Jason Whitehorn (@JasonTNA) August 1, 2015
Money doesn’t buy class Dana. — MVP (@The305MVP) August 1, 2015
This is what a “fake” head butt looks like @danawhite…complete w/ “fake” blood, stitches, and imaginary time off. pic.twitter.com/pHtgILIRdP — Austin Healy Aries (@AustinAries) August 1, 2015
Comparing pro wrestling to combat sports is silly. It’s apples to oranges. Just don’t call my apples a fake food. We all pay a real price.

Good thing you had “FAKE” @BrockLesnar in @ufc to be your biggest PPV draw of all time. https://t.co/gaAOwxbN7T — Bully Ray (@REALBully5150) August 1, 2015
.@danawhite Sir, “do the right thing” and apologize to THE industry that laid the groundwork for YOUR industry. Have a great show tonight. — Bully Ray (@REALBully5150) August 1, 2015
Hope everyone who complained about Dana also complained about all the bikini models taking a splash off the top like it’s nothing. — Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerWON) August 2, 2015
Seriously, the people who script wrestling do 1,000 times more for the public to think it’s fake than some MMA promoter on Twitter.
— Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerWON) August 2, 2015
Some call @UFC fake… IT IS… Fearless Artistry Kombat Evolved. 100%. @danawhite. https://t.co/B7RPpfqNwX
— Sheamus (@WWESheamus) August 2, 2015
“Fake” was a poor word choice by @danawhite. @RondaRousey‘s tribute to Roddy is a heartfelt move from the most popular fighter in the world.
— Mick Foley (@RealMickFoley) August 2, 2015
Sure @danawhite called wrestling fake. The far BIGGER story is that @RondaRousey dedicated her fight to Roddy Piper. https://t.co/066iZkK6ne

Hey @danawhite, come to the @WWEPerformCtr & see what we do EVERYDAY & tell me it’s fake. Send your “ultimate” fighters too. How dare you.
— Bull Dempsey (@BullDempseyWWE) August 1, 2015
(1/2) @danawhite, “fake” infuriates @WWE Superstars, Divas & fans because the injuries are real and happen more often than they do in @UFC.
— Joey Styles (@JoeyStyles) August 2, 2015
(2/2) Perhaps you could please tweet that @UFC, like boxing, costs more than @WWE because they are sports rather than sports entertainment.

Editor’s Note:
We all know that professional wrestling is predetermined, but obviously the usage of the word FAKE is not something that is taken lightly by fans and stars alike. These men put their bodies on the line every night for our entertainment, and it shouldn’t be brushed aside because it isn’t “real fighting.” White should have probably chosen a different set of words.
