With the Divas Revolution receiving much criticism from the WWE Universe as of late, Paige recently spoke out regarding her thoughts on WWE’s creative decision making.
Paige went on to provide several examples as to when WWE’s creative staff has ignored her input, including when she told them that the crowd at last year’s “Survivor Series” event would turn when she was working as a heel against five babyfaces:
“I knew it was going to turn out the way it did because I was on the bad guys’ side, but I said to them, ‘there’s five girls against one girl, even if she’s a bad guy, [the audience] is going to support the one by herself’ and that’s how it turned out. The whole crowd ended up turning on the good guys and chanting for me instead, but it’s just like, ‘okay, so you’re dumb. I told you this.'”
Paige also went on to claim that she told creative how the “Submission Sorority” name was a bad idea:
“I said to a couple of the writers, I was like, ‘dude, Submission Sorority? Don’t let children Google that. So we have to, like, change it.’ And they were like, ‘oh, we’ll speak with Vince [McMahon] at some point.’ And, I’m like, ‘okay’. And then I see we get called the Submission Sorority on RAW the next day, there are millions of people watching, and then suddenly people are like, ‘oh great, you’re in a porn group’.”
Paige admitted that while she has no say as to the current creative direction of the Divas Revolution, she stated that if she was in charge, she would want more matches with stipulations, a Divas Championship “Money In The Bank” match, an all-women’s pay-per-view, and Divas matches main eventing pay-per-views.
Paige also named Bayley, Emma, and Sasha Banks when asked who she would want as a tag team partner if there was a Divas tag division.
Editor’s Note:
Paige is never afraid to shy away from speaking her mind, so I enjoy anytime she participates in these Q&A sessions. I think that while she doesn’t have any creative control, if she continues to put on stellar matches with her fellow Divas, the WWE creative team will be forced to give the Divas more in-ring time. With a potential change to the “face” of the Divas division coming as soon as “Night of Champions,” maybe the Divas Revolution can change the minds of WWE’s creative team.
