WWE is trying to create a “Daniel Bryan” type of movement for Cesaro. A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims the company is handing out the “Cesaro Section” signs to fans in the crowd each week, despite his recent association with heel advocate Paul Heyman.
WWE’s plan for Cesaro is to hopefully rally the WWE Universe behind him just like they have done for Daniel Bryan with the “Yes Movement.” What they’re hoping to accomplish through Cesaro’s pairing with Heyman, is to have him “look” like a heel with a heel manager, but never actual turn him into a “bad guy.”
WWE realizes that there is an organic push for Cesaro happening with the fans, as the WWE Universe recently turned him babyface while he was working with the heel tag team, The Real Americans. They want to capitalize on this early, by pitting Cesaro against Paul Heyman’s other client, Brock Lesnar, in the near future. To do this, they’ve united Heyman and Cesaro, but will never turn Cesaro fully heel.
Lesnar, who ended the Undertaker’s WrestleMania undefeated streak on April 6, is now the biggest heel in the wrestling business. Whatever face gets the first victory over “The Beast Incarnate,” and in this case it’s rumored to be Cesaro, will get a huge rub and likely ignite a tremendous groundswell of support for the lucky “hero.”
Cesaro also currently has no entrance theme to build up his new character. As we previously reported, Jim Johnston is currently working on a new theme for the “King of Swing,” but the company does not want to reveal the new theme right away. They want to keep his entrance silent for the time being, as they believe it helps to push the idea of his departure from the Real Americans being sudden, as well as creates a talking point for the character.
Editor’s Note: I’m glad they’re going to move forward with keeping Cesaro face, and this isn’t the first time WWE officials have pushed to create their own fan favorites. Remember the Lex Express?
