New reports have provided more on WWE moving Seth Rollins away from the Curb Stomp finish that he has used since his debut in the company. Initial reports claimed that the move was being banned from WWE, however this is apparently not the case, and Rollins could still use the move during special circumstances, but it will no longer be his regular finish.
As previously reported, Rollins’ Curb Stomp is not being banned, but is being swept under the rug for the time being. Where it was initially reported by Justin LaBar that the move would no longer be usable due to head injury concerns, the violent nature of the move, and lawsuits against the company, Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” stated that the move is not banned, but that the company wanted Rollins to have something else to use.
PWInsider.com is now reporting that the move is indeed not banned, but Rollins was given his new finish so that it would be something that “he could hit on anyone,” any where, any time. Rollins used the move during the April 20 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” and it appears to be a headlock into a fall-down face buster.
It’s not a DDT, although it does look very similar to Dean Ambrose’s new Dirty Deeds variation of the Double-Arm DDT in the style Rollins performs it. As previously reported, Ambrose changed Dirty Deeds from a high-impact standing Bulldog to the Double-Arm DDT after WWE officials felt Adam Rose’s finish was to similar to Ambrose’s.
With Rollins’ new finish looking similar to the new Dirty Deeds, it will be interesting to see if the company and Rollins continue to look for a new finish, or if they are set with the one he debuted during “RAW.” Upon a face-turn for Rollins, he could easily use the Phoenix Splash as his finish, but the move is too much of a face maneuver to constantly be used by the company’s biggest heel.
Editor’s Note:
I mean…he couldn’t hit the Curb Stomp on ANY ONE? I saw him to it to BROCK LESNAR on MULTIPLE occasions. #Conspiracy
