The WWE is facing controversy over comments made by Australian developmental talent Buddy Murphy in a video that went viral on YouTube this past weekend, where Murphy made reference to murdering children. Multiple sources are reporting that the video featuring Murphy was from the WWE’s “Presentations Skills” class at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
The video quickly drew the attention of WWE officials, and they had it removed quickly through the use of a copyright claim. Murphy, who wrestled as Matt Silva before signing with the WWE, was practicing his promo cutting skills on the video and was speaking in character when he made the controversial remarks.
Murphy’s character is that he is a man that exists with multiple personalities. During his time on camera during the class, Murphy said,
“See that guy walks through the door, he’s upstairs, doesn’t have a smile on his face, that’s me too. The guy that sits in the locker room and stares a hole down the wall, and you’re wondering what he’s thinking, he’s going to go home and murder my kids, that’s me too. But, this is what you want. This is what you want. Well just remember this…you might get what you want, but you don’t always get WHO you want.”
