In a statement released to The Daily Mail, WWE comments on the recent arrest of an Internet pirate who cost the company millions of dollars in revenue over the years. As previously reported, the UK’s Police International Property Crime Unit raided the home of a 55-year-old British man and arrested him for illegally uploading WWE and UFC content to torrent sites for years.
WWE Senior Vice President of General Counsel James Langham is the man who made the statement on the matter, saying,
“WWE provides many options for our fans to watch our content lawfully – on television, pay-per-view, and digitally via YouTube and the WWE Network. We will continue to protect our intellectual property aggressively and combat piracy in any form.”
TorrentFreak.com described the man arrested as, “one of the world’s most prolific uploaders of both UFC and WWE content.” Many believe this man was the infamous “Sir Paul,” who’s name pops up on a great number of WWE and UFC torrent files online. The man arrested apparently uploading 3.2 terabytes of copyrighted WWE and UFC content, which has been downloaded over two million times.
Editor’s Note:
Gotta love them Internet police. And I thought getting blocked from our Youtube channel for a year after uploading a video of John Cena AA’ing Tony Chimel was bad…
